Alan Cooper

When asked why he has served at St. Anthony of Padua School, Alan Cooper says, "It was God's mission—and I was amazed with this school. First and foremost, because of the fact that over 90 percent of the children that attend St. Anthony's go on to graduate from high school."

When Alan shares this rate with people, he receives the same one-word response: "Astounding." As a retired business manager, Alan assesses the school's principal, staff and faculty as superb. And, Alan is certain that this is what attracts families, volunteers and donors.

Alan is a contributor to the school's operating fund. For five years, he served as an advisor on the school board. It might come as a surprise to some that he is not a Catholic; he's Presbyterian.

Alan’s affiliation with Catholic organizations is not new to him. He graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an undergraduate degree in business and an MBA in economics. During his professional career, he was a strategic planning facilitator for businesses, schools, churches and charitable organizations.

After Alan and his wife, Joan, moved to Greenville in 2002, he wanted to serve the Lord in local mission work. A colleague, Bill Misiaveg, became aware of this and arranged a meeting between him, Father Patrick and Sister Catherine. They asked Alan to join their new strategic planning team. He has been active at the school since that time.
